A few years ago, I was approached with a unique and challenging request to engrave a pair of knife blades featuring very specific and intricate designs. The project required absolute discretion, as the blades were props for an upcoming movie that demanded complete secrecy to protect its creative elements. Each blade was entirely different in style: one was to be gold-plated with delicate floral engravings running along both sides of the blade, while its handle was to be finished later with the addition of carefully selected jewels. The second blade was crafted from plain steel and featured oversized serrations. It was to be engraved with detailed Egyptian hieroglyphs on both sides, adding a historical and mysterious aesthetic. I later learned that these blades were created for the highly anticipated film, The Phoenician Scheme, directed by Wes Anderson. Below, I have included a few photos of the finished knife blades alongside some of the related movie props. I am grateful to Paul Macdonald Armouries for entrusting me with this project and for the exceptional craftsmanship they provided in making these blades.
